Terms of Service

Effective · 16 August 2025

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Grace Journal mobile application and related services (the “App”, “Service” or “Grace Journal”) provided by Tinteractive Apps (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account, accessing or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the App.

1Definitions

2Eligibility

age check ✦

2.1You must be 13 years or older to create an Account. If you are under 13 you are not permitted to create or use an Account unless and only to the extent local law allows parental/guardian-managed accounts.

2.2Parents and guardians who create and manage Accounts for children accept responsibility for those Accounts and for ensuring compliance with these Terms.

3Account Creation and Security

3.1You must provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date.

3.2You are responsible for all activity that happens under your Account credentials. Keep your password and authentication methods secure and notify us immediately of suspected unauthorized use.

3.3We may suspend or limit access to Accounts where we reasonably suspect unauthorized access or abuse.

4Description of Service; Changes; Beta Features

4.1Grace Journal provides note-taking, verse-lookup/autocomplete (client-side), private sharing, note organization, optional AI-driven suggestions, and related features. Feature availability may vary by platform and app version.

4.2We may add, modify, or remove features at any time. Beta or experimental features may change or be discontinued without notice.

4.3We may place reasonable limits on usage to protect service quality or prevent abuse.

5User Content — Ownership and License

you own your words ✦

5.1You retain ownership of the intellectual property rights in your User Content.

5.2By uploading or submitting User Content you grant Tinteractive Apps a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, cache, store, transmit, display and otherwise use that content only to provide, operate, maintain and improve the Service and to comply with applicable law. That license extends to our Service Providers solely to the extent necessary to provide the Service.

5.3When you delete User Content or your Account, we will stop making it available through the Service. Deleted content may remain temporarily in encrypted backups for disaster recovery (up to 30 days) but is not accessible or exportable. See Section 8.

5.4You represent and warrant that you have the rights necessary to upload and license the User Content under these Terms and that it does not infringe any third party rights.

5.5Prohibited content: you must not upload content that violates applicable law or these Terms, including content that is unlawful, pornographic, promotes violence or hatred, is defamatory, or invades privacy.

6Prohibited Activities

keep it clean ✦

You agree not to, and will not permit others to, do any of the following while using the Service:

  1. Access, tamper with, or use any non-public areas of the Service, our computer systems, or the systems of our Service Providers (including administrative interfaces or hidden APIs).
  2. Probe, scan, test, or otherwise attempt to assess the vulnerability of any system or network, breach or circumvent security or authentication measures, or defeat access controls.
  3. Decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble, decode, or otherwise attempt to discover the source code, object code, underlying structure, algorithms, trade secrets, or ideas of the Service, except to the limited extent required by law.
  4. Modify, create derivative works of, rent, lease, sell, redistribute, sublicense, or otherwise exploit the Service or any portion of it for unauthorized commercial purposes.
  5. Use robots, spiders, scrapers, crawlers, or other automated means to access, index, collect or harvest content from the Service (including any API) except via interfaces explicitly provided by us.
  6. Attempt to access another user’s Account or data, harvest credentials or personal data, or interfere with other users’ use of the Service.
  7. Interfere with, disrupt, degrade, or otherwise harm the operation of the Service or the experience of other users, including transmitting malware or other malicious code.
  8. Circumvent any rate limits, usage controls, or other restrictions we place on the Service.

We may monitor and audit use of the Service to detect compliance and may suspend or terminate access for violations.

7AI Features, User Control and Data Use

your data, your call ✦

7.1Scope and purpose. AI Features (where available) are provided to deliver convenience and generate personalized devotional suggestions or notifications. AI output is provided for convenience only and is not professional, legal, medical, or theological advice.

7.2User control and opt-out. You may disable AI Features in App settings at any time. When disabled, no new AI prompts will be sent on your behalf. AI features are off by default for users who opt out.

7.3What is processed. AI processing occurs only on content that you actively and explicitly submit through an AI interface. We will not automatically extract or transmit your stored notes or other User Content for AI processing.

7.4Training and model improvement. Unless you explicitly opt in to a separate training program, content you submit through AI interfaces will not be used to train or improve our models or third-party models. If you opt in, we will make clear what data will be used and for what purpose.

7.5Responsibility. You are responsible for reviewing AI outputs before relying on them. We disclaim liability for reliance on or misuse of AI outputs.

8Encryption, Storage, Backups and Device Security

locked down ✦

8.1For technical details, see our Privacy Policy. This section provides a brief summary.

8.2Transport & server storage. Grace Journal transmits data over secure channels and stores note content on our servers and Service Providers encrypted at rest. We and our Service Providers store only encrypted representations of notes on servers and cannot decrypt those server-stored encrypted blobs.

8.3On-device storage. The App keeps a local copy of your notes on your device so you can edit and access them offline. Local device storage is protected by your device’s security features (for example passcode, biometric lock, or operating system encryption).

8.4Backups and retention. Encrypted backups that may contain note data are retained for up to 30 days after deletion for disaster recovery. Deleted content is not available to other users or for export. See our Privacy Policy for details on how to request access to your data.

8.5Device compromise. We are not responsible for loss, disclosure, modification, or deletion of note content that results from device compromise (for example jailbreaking, rooting, installing untrusted software, or granting third-party apps access to your device storage).

8.6Data Export and Backups. Grace Journal allows you to export personal data currently stored in your account. Deleted notes are not available for export, even if they exist temporarily in backups retained for disaster recovery (up to 30 days). Backups are used solely to restore data in case of system failures and are not accessible to users. See the Privacy Policy for more details on how to request your data.

9Third-Party Content and Licenses

9.1Third-party content. The App may include or integrate content supplied by third parties (for example Bible translations, commentary, or other licensed texts) that are subject to separate license terms and restrictions (“Third-Party Content”).

9.2No sublicense or redistribution rights. The inclusion of Third-Party Content in the App for the purpose of providing a note-taking or devotional experience does not grant you any license to copy, reproduce, distribute, publicly display, create derivative works from, or otherwise redistribute that Third-Party Content outside the App. You may use Third-Party Content only as expressly permitted under the third party’s license and these Terms. Any rights to access or view Third-Party Content are subject to the licensors’ terms and may be revoked.

9.3Your responsibility for content you create or share. If you create notes that incorporate or reproduce Third-Party Content (for example quoting copyrighted Bible text in a note you share), you are solely responsible for ensuring that your use complies with the applicable third-party license (including any fair-use, quotation, or excerpt rules). You agree that Tinteractive Apps is not responsible for any claim arising from your reproduction, sharing, or other use of Third-Party Content.

9.4No warranty and limited availability. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, availability or continued licensing of Third-Party Content. Third parties may change or revoke license terms, restrict use, or remove content at any time; we are not responsible for such changes. If you require details about a specific translation or licensor (including permitted uses or attribution requirements), contact support and consult the licensor’s own terms.

9.5If you believe we are violating a license. If you believe a particular use of Third-Party Content in the Service violates a licensor’s rights, please contact us at contact@gracejournal.co with the relevant details and we will investigate.

10Payments, Upgrades and Refunds

10.1Current pricing. As of the Effective Date the core App is provided in beta without a paid subscription. If we introduce paid features, pricing, trial periods and refund policies will be presented at the point of purchase. Payment processing and refunds will be subject to the terms of the relevant app store or payment processor.

11Suspension, Termination and Account Cancellation

11.1Grounds for suspension or termination. We may suspend or terminate an Account if you violate these Terms, engage in illegal activity, threaten Service security, or otherwise harm the Service or other users.

11.2Effect of termination. Upon termination you lose access to the Service. We may delete User Content as described in Section 8. Termination does not limit our right to pursue other legal remedies.

12Disclaimers; Limitation of Liability

12.1Disclaimers. To the fullest extent permitted by New Zealand law, the Service and all content are provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” without warranties of any kind. We disclaim implied warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose.

12.2Limitation of liability. Except where prohibited by law (for example liability for personal injury or death caused by our negligence), our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Service or these Terms will not exceed NZD $100. We will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential damages, loss of data, or loss of profits.

fine print. ✦

13Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the Service or legal requirements. We will provide notice of material changes by email or in-app notice where practicable. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14Governing Law; Disputes

NZ courts ✦

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. You agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand to resolve disputes.

15Miscellaneous

15.1Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any in-app notices, constitute the entire agreement.

15.2Assignment. We may assign or transfer our rights under these Terms to an affiliate or successor; we will notify you of material assignments.

15.3Severability. If any provision is invalid or unenforceable, the remainder remains effective.
